In an official statement released by Vice President Sara Duterte, she emphasized that throughout her tenure as both Vice Mayor and Mayor of Davao City, her name has never been associated with the alleged Davao Death Squad.

However, according to the vice president, a witness suddenly emerged after she won the vice presidential elections, leading to her inclusion on the accused list at the International Criminal Court.

Vice President Duterte asserted that she does not need a death squad to accomplish what she is capable of doing.

Nevertheless, she stated that she is willing to face any accusations against her, but only before a Filipino judge and within the jurisdiction of the Filipino court.

She expressed her refusal to participate in a process that she believes would not only bring shame to the country but also undermine the dignity of judges, the court, and the entire justice system of the Philippines.

The Vice President emphasized that the country should not be humiliated before the world by allowing foreigners to interfere and meddle in Philippine affairs.

According to the vice president, the inclination to submit to external influences is a slap in the face to the Filipino heroes who sacrificed their lives and fought for our freedom.
