Schools in Multiple Cities Suspend Face-to-Face Classes Due to Hot Weather

Manila —A total of 1,042 schools under the Schools Division Offices of various cities, including Iloilo City, Bacolod City, Roxas City, Kabankalan City, Silay City, Guimaras, Himamaylan City, Iloilo, Bago City, Negros Occidental, Sipalay City, Passi City, and San Carlos City opted to suspend face-to-face classes on Tuesday, April 2, due to hot weather conditions.


This directive was based on data provided by the Department of Education (DepEd)-Region VI, as shared by Radyo Pilipinas.


Several school division offices had suspended face-to-face classes starting Monday, April 1.


DepEd-Region VI assured that student learning will not be disrupted as the Modular Distance Learning Modality will be put in place.


Public schools nationwide may adopt blended learning if necessary, according to Vice President and current DepEd Secretary Sara Duterte.


The Department of Education has entrusted the school leadership with the execution of blended learning to ensure continued education for students while prioritizing their health and safety amidst the current intense weather conditions.
