The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) has once again recorded an acceleration in inflation, representing the movement of prices of goods and services in the country for March 2024.
Undersecretary Dennis Mapa said, in a report shared by Radyo Pilipinas, inflation for March reached 3.7%, higher than the 3.4% inflation rate observed in February.
As a result, the average inflation rate from January to March now stands at 3.3%.
The rapid increase in food prices, non-alcoholic beverages, including onions and chicken meat, and transport costs, such as gasoline and diesel, drives this trend.
Apart from the National Capital Region (NCR), 11 regions experienced higher inflation rates in March, including regions 1, 2, 4a, MIMAROPA, 5, 6, 7, 9, 10, and 13.
