The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) BARMM uprooted approximately 15,000 marijuana plants cultivated in a 500-square-meter plantation valued at Php 12,900,000 at Sitio Mangal-Mangal, Barangay Masjid Punjungan, Kalingalan Caluang, Sulu on Sunday, February 25, 2024.
Authorities discovered the Marijuana plantation following a successful buy-bust operation launched by PDEA BARMM, where 6,000 worth of dried marijuana leaves placed in a knot-tied sando bag were initially confiscated.
However, the suspects, known as Rene and Jul, narrowly evaded arrest during the operation.
The suspects will face charges for violating RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
PDEA BARMM's successful drug bust was conducted with the assistance of the Sulu Provincial Office, National Intelligence Coordinating Agency (NICA) in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao, Kalingalan Caluang Municipal Police Station, Regional Intelligence Unit (RIU) IX, 21st Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army, 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company, 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC), 54th Special Action Company, 5th Special Action Battalion, and 2nd Company Regional Mobile Force Battalion 14-B Sulu.
