Manila ( January 18, 2024 ) - The Department of Education (DepEd) has issued an official statement regarding Grade 11 learners currently enrolled in State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) and Local Universities and Colleges (LUCs).
According to the statement shared by Vice President and DepEd Secretary Sara Duterte, prior to the start of the current academic year, DepEd Order No. 22 series of 2023 was released, stating that there will no longer be Grade 11 voucher beneficiaries from SUCs and LUCs starting School Year 2023-2024.
Despite this directive, the agency discovered through their records that SUCs and LUCs still accepted Grade 11 learners this school year.
To prevent any displacement of learners, DepEd announced the extension of the Senior High School Voucher Program (SHSVP) for Grade 11 learners enrolled in SUCs and LUCs for School Year 2023-2024.
They may continue to be voucher beneficiaries to complete their Grade 12 studies in School Year 2024-2025.
DepEd will execute a Memorandum of Agreement with the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) to formalize the arrangement.
To avoid similar situations in the future, the Department of Education reminded all SUCs and LUCs not to extend the Senior High School Voucher Program (SHSVP) to Grade 11 learners in their schools starting School Year 2024-2025.
