Isabela City, Basilan Wins Tourism Champions Challenge, Receives P20 Million for Lampinigan SANDS Project

Manila —The Local Government Unit of Isabela City in Basilan secured first place among the contenders from Mindanao in the Tourism Champions Challenge organized by the Department of Tourism.



President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. presented the award at the Philippine Intercontinental Convention Center.



Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman and City Tourism Officer Claudio Ramos II accepted the recognition and the funding amounting to P20 million.


The amount will support the city's proposed "Lampinigan SANDS (Sustainable and Natural Destination of the South): The Jetty Port and Leisure Development Project."


Aside from the 20,000,000 fund, the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA) added P5 million to the three national winners, bringing the total funding for the winning projects to P25 million.
