Drug Bust in Sulu Injures Soldier, Yields P13.6M Worth of Suspected Shabu

Sulu — The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) seized an estimated Php 13.6 million worth of suspected shabu in a buy-bust operation in Tagbak, Indanan, Sulu, on Saturday, March 9.



The illegal drugs were discovered in two heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets weighing a total of 2000 grams. Authorities also recovered the buy-bust money, a mobile phone, and a motorcycle with official receipts and certificate of registration.


One suspect, known as alias Toh/Hamas, was apprehended and is currently detained at the Indanan Municipal Police Station, awaiting inquest proceedings for violation of RA 9165, also known as the “Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.”


During the operation, a certain individual identified as Jhim managed to escape and even fired at a soldier, resulting in injuries. The wounded soldier was immediately transported to the nearest hospital for medical treatment.


Other law enforcement units supported PDEA BARMM in the operation were Sulu Police Provincial Office Provincial Intelligence Unit (SPPO PIU), National Intelligence Coordinating Agency Bangsamoro Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (NICA BARM), Indanan Municipal Police Station, Regional Intelligence Unit IX (RIU IX), 100 Infantry Battalion Philippine Army (100IB PA), 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company (1st PMFC), 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company (2nd PFMC), 54th Special Action Company (5th SAB) 5th Special Action Battalion (5th SAB), 2nd Company Regional Mobile Force Battalion (2nd RMFB) 14-B Sulu, and Police Drug Enforcement Group Bangsamoro Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (PEG BARMM).
