DepEd Aims to Transition 326,253 ALS Learners to Formal Education for School Year 2024-2025

Manila —The Department of Education (DepEd) targets transitioning 326,253 learners enrolled in the Alternative Learning System (ALS) to formal education for the school year 2024-2025.

During their presentation to the House Committee on Basic Education and Culture, DepEd emphasized their commitment to advancing the proposed Basic Education Learning Pathways Framework.

ALS is a parallel learning system that provides opportunities for out-of-school youth and adults to complete basic education. DepEd explained that reducing the dropout rate in ALS is possible if students are successfully reintegrated into formal schooling, which is the program's primary objective.

The department is also actively conducting an inventory of ALS Community Centers in schools and division offices. DepEd reiterated its full support for the ALS law to ensure compliance and enforcement of the provisions. | Che Vicente
