Commission on Appointments (CA) may defer or postpone once again the ad interim appointment of BGen. Ranulfo Sevilla, Deputy Commander of AFP Special Operations Command in Fort Magsaysay, Nueva Ecija.
As per Radyo Pilipinas's report, the deferment of Sevilla's appointment stems from the objection raised by Mrs. Tessa Luz Ausra Reyes-Sevilla, citing the general's alleged shortcomings in his responsibilities as a husband and a father.
Before facing the CA panel, Mrs. Sevilla faced reporters and revealed that the general was abusive and neglectful towards their two children.
Mrs. Sevilla expressed her gratitude as the CA panel listened to her objections.
She also urged other military spouses facing abuse not to fear but to fight for their children.
Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri emphasized the importance of appointees having good character when appearing before the CA.
Based on CA committee discussions, Zubiri shared that General Sevilla needs a legal document to prove he is providing proper support to his family, which will be submitted to the AFP.
