Bangsamoro Transition Authority Member of Parliament Ali Montaha Babao has introduced Parliament Bill Numbers 271 and 272, outlining the creation of the proposed municipalities of PilintAngan and Raya Maguing in Lanao del Sur.
The proposed municipality of Pilintangan is set to be composed of eleven barangays currently under the jurisdiction of Wao town. These barangays include Balatin, Buntongan, Buot, East Kili Kili, Kadingilan, Mimbuaya, Muslim Village, Panang, Park Area, Pilintangan, and Western Poblacion. It is also proposed that Barangay Pilintangan will serve as the seat of government for the proposed town.
On the other hand, the proposed municipality of Raya Maguing will be formed by fourteen barangays from the existing town of Maguing. The barangays to be included are Balawag, Bato Bato, Bubong Bayabao, Bubong Maguing, Cambong Balintao, Camalig, Dilimbayan, Ilalag, Kiyanodan, Lilod Maguing, Maguing Proper, Panayagan, Pilimoknan, and Runggayan.
Both proposed bills stipulate that a referendum will be conducted by the Commission on Elections through the Bangsamoro Electoral Office sixty days after the approval of the proposed measures.
If ratified, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. or BARMM Chief Minister Ahod Ebrahim will appoint municipal government officials, including mayors, vice-mayors, and members of the Sangguniang Bayan.
The two towns will receive Php 3,000,000 monthly from the Bangsamoro Government during the transition period.
