2 Teachers Nab in Cotabato City Drug Raid; Drug Den Dismantled

Cotabato City — A teacher, identified as John Lloyd Fernandez Compaña, found himself behind bars following his arrest last Saturday, March 9, 2024, at Purok Kadtatabanga, ORG Compound, Rosary Heights 7, Cotabato City, based on a Warrant of Arrest issued by the Cotabato City Regional Trial Court Branch 13.



Compaña was apprehended by the Bangsamoro Anti-Illegal Drug Task Group (BAIDTG) with assistance from the Internal Security Service of the Office of the Senior Minister and the Ministry of the Interior and Local Government. The BAIDTG served the Warrant of Arrest at a residence in the mentioned location, where authorities also discovered a drug den, which law enforcers immediately dismantled.



PDEA BARMM disclosed that the drug den was allegedly owned and maintained by a 63-year-old teacher named Wajid Ibrahim Galib, who was also arrested by the authorities together with a 25-year-old male identified by PDEA BARMM as Ridzwan Ismael Abdulgani. Based on the report, the individuals were caught in the act of engaging in illegal drug activities.


During the operation, 11 sachets of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride or Shabu, weighing approximately 5 grams and valued at P34,000.00, were confiscated. Various drug paraphernalia were also recovered.


The three individuals are currently detained at the PDEA BARMM Jail Facility awaiting the inquest proceedings for violating RA 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. Compaña has a previous drug-related offense dating back to 2020.


PDEA BARMM Regional Director Gil Cesario Castro commended the efforts of the inter-agency law enforcement units in BARMM and the BARMM government following the successful operation.
